Deep breathe...

I’ve been quiet on this side.
Sometimes life doesn’t go has plan…


Luckily I found out ,for me, that is very relaxing to make crochet.
Long time ago, in some blog, I read the difference between crochet and knitting, and why do people that chose just to do one type of craft, don’t get along very well with the other people that chose the opposite. Well for me it really doesn’t work. I like knitting, crochet, sewing (not doing that so much lately), working with felt fabric, and so on, guess I’m a multitask crafter.
But when I get stressed, I can get my relaxation in crochet. Maybe because I always knew how to do it, or because the patterns are much easy to follow, and maybe because they are in all times small projects.


So that is why I’m doing some squares of 12’’, they say, in my measure it only goes to 10’’! This is a crochet along, once a month in Ravelry.

Every month they do a post about the block of the month. I have chosen to do all of them in red, using white in contrasting color, when the block calls for a second color. Very romantic this is going to be!

I’ve also made the replace bag that was stolen from me. Not using the same colors and yarn (don’t have any in my LYS). But using an Australian yarn that was sent to me by a swap.

See what I mean, much more productive in crochet then in knitting.
Although I have to do some pair of socks for the SAM5, but that is another story.

I’ve had some bad news from Portugal, my father is in hospital, he went in a very critical condition, but now it has stabilized. (Seems like my 2008 year isn’t going so well). The medical condition is a septicemia. That I informed in the net, it is a very critical infection. There is a cure, but the patient must also be cooperative.
And for me to make a trip there, is almost impossible. But in case of emergency, that must be done. For now I will wait, with my hooks, for the upcoming news, from there.

Cross fingers, and positive vibrations.
I’m also trying not to go down; I’ve got to little girls in my house, that wouldn’t understand, why mummy is always crying, so you can see that a lot of straight has been holding on this side.

I may post less then I normally do.

Washing dishes

This weekend was very productive on this side.

I’ve made several dishcloths.

This one is from the Monthly dishcloth group.

It goes for A. for her bath!

And another dish cloth. This one in chevron pattern.

I’ve been searching in the net, for the real chevron pattern that one that comes in the Last minute gifts, but since I don’t have the book, and I fell in love with these amazing scarfs from the site good to be girl. I’ve found only here in Nona’s site a different kind of pattern, that I think it really looks like the one in the book. I was very happy with the result. So must probably I will do a pair of scarf’s for the girls.

And for the last show and tell, of course the legend of dishcloths, the grandmother’s favorite dishcloth.

I ended all the dishcloths with a sc in crochet. I do think it prevents from curling, and it gives a better finish touch.

I’ve been trying to do some footie’s to be used in bed. My own pattern, but still in testing. Although I can say that I’ve already made some for me, for a birthday girl, and for my girls also. I’ve used the same techniques like you usually knit the socks, with the short row in the toe, and in the heel. And now I’m trying to do also with the pickup sts. The funny of the footie’s is that they aren’t knit around (only in the part of the finish toe), but you don’t have one seam to sew, only in the toe, with gather stitch! Curious ….

ETA: Just to inform that my little girl is no longer little anymore!! She made 2 years old last Thursday, and seriously I’m starting to fell old, by the minute! She had a lot of presents, a cake and some jelly, hummmm, she loves it. No photos here to show, you know my camera is on holidays, and the photos from the camera phone are seriously a disgrace, as you can see in all the photos from my works. I apologize for that…

Crochet, and more crochet.

My first experience with felt.


I’ve tried to do a bowl with a handle. Well the bowls is there, but forget about the handle thing, it didn’t go like I imagine…
Anyway, it was fun to see the sc in crochet disappear. I’ve got 100% wool in my stash, so I will try again, but this time I will work with a smaller needle.


For my girl I made this cute bag.

Looks like a strawberry! The pattern you can get it from here.
And it is so easy and fast to do; you can do it in any size that you desire.

I’m starting now some pillows for the girls’ room, I’m in need of some changes around home with the decoration.

This stitch I found on the net, it is called Harlequin stitch. And I felt in love with him for the first time that I saw.

The coordination of two colors here are fantastic.

Top and socks

More updating of finishing works.

I made a test knitting for Lily. I didn’t get the top on time, but, for me that has no big experience in knitting (at least in big projects like this one); I do think I did pretty well.
You must go and check her designs. She as a lot of original patterns, and with very good taste!
I like her designs very much, pity that my body doesn’t agree with me, but that is another story for later.
However I will post my best photo here. Just because the others I simply can’t see and accept how fat I am!
So here is by best shot.

I used Splish Splash from Elle, 4 ply cotton. It took 3 balls. But i didn't made the rufles in the arms. So must probably, if i would do the all pattern it would be 4.

In other front I also finish the Jacobean socks.

No problem with the pattern here, only the cast off the cuff. The ktbl and purl, doesn’t give the stretch that my leg needs, and they do tend to tight a little there, so I cast off as loose as I could.

And the color of the socks is purple, I have no idea why is this color here!

And my camera just broke also, so to join the party of losing everything, I’m only going to takes photos from my cell phone; let’s see if it doesn’t goes co-co also! (Got to keep the good mode)
