Weather in South Africa is very unpredictable.... lately we are having the 4 seasons in a week space. All the clothes (summer and winter) must be always ready to go, no more packing for winter or summer. Guess it is a thing I have to get used to!
So after 2 days of hot weather, we will have now 3 days of cold and miserable wet weather.... have to learn to live with it.
This weather actually helps me with my work, nice and fresh, no sweaty hands.... no discomfort of being too hot and not be able to sew!
Now back to my production for the Xmas market....
This is what I finish yesterday, Owls and Hello Kitty
Here is the full collection of the owls
and the full collection of the Hello Kitty
Now time for some Xmas decorations, starting with the Ho Ho Ho mobile :)
Taking part of this world tour is fun.
I offered myself to participate, and Ruth tag me, Thank you :)
So here are the questions:
1.What am I working on? I'm making mobiles, pin flowers, owls, hello kitty, hearts, bookmarks..... yes a lot is going on at the time! Finishing a order and preparing for a Xmas market at my girls school (that is why so many things at the same time)
All this hopefully will be this....
.... and this....
2. How does my work
differ from others of its genre?
doesn't differ a lot; I guess it is just the love for what you do. I love what
I can create with felt, and decorate little things, it gives me great joy. The
only comment that I get here at home from my girls is "oh, cute" so
I'm happy with that (and no they are not getting paid for saying that ;) )
3. Why do I write/create what I do?
oh why..... It started as a way of my family in Portugal to be able to see us
here in South Africa, now it is more of showing the family still but also my
work, and what I'm doing....
posting as much as I would like.... Facebook is the guilty party here.... it
looks much easier to post there, and fast.
the creative side, I just get inspired by all the gorgeous work out there made
in felt, it is amazing what people can create with this so gorgeous type of
4. How does my writing/creating process work?
My creating process
takes a long time (although it does look like) lots of searching, drawing, and
thinking how the piece is going to turn out, There is a lot of cute stuff that
doesn't make the outside eye.... lots of trying until the piece is on
perfection. Still today I try to perfect my already patterns... always looking
for cuteness also.
At this point I am supposed to nominate the blogger, not doing that, but I
would ask my followers if you care to join the tour you are more than
welcome.... just drop a comment, and I will announce it here :)
... with most pleasure :)
It became my way of relaxing in the morning (that slowly is taking over the all day).
But sometimes it becomes a little bit stressful....
Doing at the moment two big orders, one for a market that is going to happen in the beginning of December and another for a wonderful lady and for her shop online.... I did said relaxing/stressful!
So this is what I have cut during the weekend to sew during the week....
